The Black Woman Is God
Art Exhibition
"Procession of the Gods" by Idris Hassan (2017)
"Procession of the Gods" highlights a moment from "The Black Woman is God" exhibition, a multimedia visual and spiritual display which challenges Eurocentric notions of God. Founded by Karen Seneferu, "The Black Woman is God" celebrates and highlights the contributions of Black women as artists, healers, and social change agents. This series captures moments of joy, of mourning, and an intergenerational gathering of Black women dedicated to healing community.

"Inspired by one of my icons, Gordon Parks, that day I felt a magical energy as I moved along side the procession taking images. Shooting the title photo felt like the Creator was allowing me to witness and capture a moment of brilliance in history." |
